Kahlil Rafiq Carter is a retired professional athlete and current professional football coach who has served as the Defensive Coordinator for the Montreal Alouettes and Secondary Coach for the Calgary Stampeders, both of the Canadian Football League. Coach Carter also has coached in the Arena Football League for Iowa and Arkansas as well at the college and high school levels at Drake University and Valley High School winning championships in 2011 and 2012. Kahlil has appeared in 3 other championship games as a coach with Calgary (CFL) in 2016 and 2017 and again with Valley High School in 2019. His team’s also reached conference finals in 2007 and 2015. To date, Coach Carter has coached 21 All-League players in 12 years in the profession.
The People’s Champ, as he affectionately became known as, starred as a player in the Arena Football League, NFL, NFL Europe, and the Canadian Football League for various teams including stops in Buffalo (NFL), Scotland (NFLEurope), Orlando (AFL), and Toronto (CFL). Carter earned All-League 4 times as a player, including Defensive Player of the Year in 2003. Carter was one of the first players in AF2 to be signed by an NFL team (Buffalo) in 2003 and was named to the league’s All-Anniversary team in 2007.
